Mississippi Girls & Boys Part Dos

I met a couple of new friends while in Mississippi this weekend. J is only 4 but he is quite the cutie and totally loves the camera. He must get it from his Mom because she worked it too.

Mississippi Girls & Boys

It was such a great weekend to bring out my camera as our friend just came back from Iraq and we had a big BBQ celebration for his home coming. Of course I took full advantage of the smiles and joy across the children's faces now that their daddy is back home.

Life is great and I'm happy to share some of my favorite snapshots from our weekend in Mississippi.

Little Bit wants to show you why it's important to floss...

I ventured off on my lunch break to Silver Spurs once again; the horse stable here on base and I found a familiar friend, Little Bit. I fell inlove with Little Bit a couple months ago on my first trip to Silver Spurs. Well today he gave me quite the surprise as I was talking to him (yes I'm weird I talk to animals) I must have said cheese. Well "cheese" is the magical word because he SMILED for me! It was the cutest gesture and made me love the guy that much more.

I also crossed paths with the friendly but shy farm cat. I could tell he wanted to play with me but just didn't get close enough for me to give him a pet. Oh well i still got a nice shot of those gorgeous eyes.

And of course I saw many of these out today... more butterflies :0)

My buddies next door

Yesterday I took the opportunity to spend some time with our neighbors dogs. I can't remember their names (will edit and update)but they are so cute and have such loving personalities. They have two girl Pomeranian and one boy German Sheppard lab mix. They rescued him from an abusive home and his poor leg didn't heal that well.

Anyways we decided to have some fun and do a little photo shoot. Ok maybe fun for me!!!

Autumn in NW Florida brings BUTTERFLIES!

Autumn has to be my favorite season time back home. I love the changing colors of the leaves and all the beauty the three weeks of fall (if we are lucky bring). Living in Florida everything stays green and flowers still bloom. Despite what you may think it can get boring.

The past week it's gotten colder and I think we're moving into our next season. Therefore I can start pulling out my jeans again to wear! YIPPEE! Oh how the little things excite me...

I've seen more butterflies than ever this week. There are tons of them just flying around. If only I could get a little closer to them and not scare them away :0) This is my shot from this morning. I think it was a Monarch but I'm not too sure.

Solaris Dinner Cruise - Harborwalk Village

I'm so behind on my blog... sorry to all my fellow blog followers.

This is from a couple weeks ago when we purchased tickets for the Solaris dinner cruise. It was a blast! There was even a wedding on board with the rest of their guests! It felt kind of odd like we were intruding on their wedding but it was beautiful none the less.

On our way up to the yacht. Note to self, don't wear heals when walking on a dock lol

Hurricane Ike - Okaloosa Island

It's funny how we experienced tropical storm Fay and Hurricane Gustav and there was little to no damage YET when Hurricane Ike rolled through making landfall in Texas (much further than the other 2 storms locations) we get highway closures, flooding and gasoline shortages. Craziness - I tell you.

So the evening that Ike made landfall earlier in the day Wes convinced us girls it would be cool to go check out Okaloosa island. I'm sure glad we experienced it because it was an experience of a life time! All the wind, crashing waves, ocean smells, pink skies were a sight not to miss out on.

Double Red flags, no swimming for us except the idiots who look at the red flag as a challenge.Dummies.

Charis and the tide, I got completely soaked because I didn't expect the tide to come up so high!

A Day At The Beach

We had very special visitors this past week; Charis & Wes. They made a huge trip down from the great white north for a week filled with beaches, golfing, drinking and fun. So many highlights and photos to remember their trip here. These photos are from their first trip to Okaloosa island (the beaches). We also got to go on the pier and do some dolphin watching. Unfortunately I have no photos of the dolphins... I was in waaay to much awe to be snap happy.

The island is also home to a favorite venue of ours, Howl at The Moon (in background), a dueling piano bar. We were the high rollers that night with "Oh Canada" written on the bar.

Niceville's newest football star....

My little buddy Cam allowed me to photograph him in his new jersey the other day. He's the wide receiver for Niceville. I'm so proud of him, he is growing up way too fast!

Relaxing sunset at the Shalimar yaht Club

With Gustov's storms approaching the Florida gulf coast I decided to take a sunset in before all the rain arrives. Somehow I missed my turn to my usual spot down the road and ended up at the Shalimar Yacht Club. Guess it was meant to be because I absolutely fell inlove with all the natural beauty this place has to offer. Just makes me realize how beautiful of a town I live in. Although the price we pay living in paradise may be by the name of Gustav...

Hope this guy settles down!

Another afternoon out at Silver Spurs Eglin AFB

Figured I would make my lunch break yesterday into a photo shoot down at Silver Spurs. It was hot and humid and I didn't think I had any good shots due to the bright sun and exposure a bit off. When I got home I was surprised that some of my photos actually turned out :0) I did have allot of fun talking to the horses and spending time with them. They're such a gorgeous animal.

This little one's hair cracked me up, poor thing was in need of a hair cut. He was so cute.

This was Little Bit, look at that fluff of hair he has! I got to give him some treats and he is just as sweet as can be.

Like I said above; gorgeous creatures. I had such an amazing hour there. Definitely my new hangout spot, I don't think the horses mind either :0)
